New / Enhanced Reports
Cases List - Defense Report
This release of MerusCase includes a new Case Information report, ‘Cases List - Defense’ which will list all cases across all case types with details of interest to Insurance Defense firms. This is similar to the ‘Cases List with Injury Detail - Defense’ report but will include all case types and not just those types that have injuries. This report can be filtered by the following:
-
Case Type
-
Case Status
-
Date Opened
-
Date Closed
-
Date Modified
-
Include Staff Assigned- this checkbox will add all staff handling roles to the report output
Cases List with Injury Detail - Defense
The ‘Cases List with Injury Detail - Defense’ report has been enhanced to include additional filters and output columns to better meet common custom report requests. A typical example includes requesting a list of cases opened in last x days or list of cases closed in last x days.
New Filter Criteria:
-
Date Opened
-
Date Closed
-
Date Modified
-
Include Staff Assigned - this checkbox will add all staff handling roles to the report output
New Output Columns:
-
Staff Assigned (if requested as a filter criteria)
-
Original Closed Date
-
Reopened Date

Last Significant Activity Date
-
Last Billable Time Entry Date
-

Detailed Invoice Report with Fees and Costs
Case Status has been added as a report output column for the Detailed Invoice Report with Fees and Costs.
Case Details
The Dates section of the Case Details page has been reorganized and placed beneath the Summary section to more intuitively display all relevant Case dates. With the recent Date additions (Original Closed Date, Reopened Date, Last Significant Activity Date, Last Ledger Entry Date, Last Invoice Date), some reorganization was needed.
Case Creation: Staff Assignments
All available staff assignment roles are now available to help improve efficiencies during case creation. Previously only Attorney Responsible, Paralegal Handling and Assistant Handling were available during case creation, causing additional data entry if other staff roles were required.
Case Messages Email Defaults
To simplify and streamline message creation this release adds a new user preference option that allows you to set default text when composing a new Case Message. Located under the External Notifications and Email messages section of user preferences, this new ‘Email Subject Defaults’ option allows you to specify the Case Name and/or the Injury Carrier Claim Number to be automatically defaulted in the Email Subject when creating a Case message. If multiple Claim Numbers exist, all will be defaulted in the Subject line, separated by commas.
Events - Associated Parties
When adding an Associated Party to a calendar event users, now have increased flexibility to also ‘Search Rolodex Instead’ to include any contact on the event, as opposed to being limited to only the contacts linked to the specific case as parties.
Other Updates
Contact Details - Added a new option to the Salutation drop down list, ‘Mx’ for Gender Neutral.
Show Case Parties Alphabetically - The description of this Firm Display option was updated to more clearly explain the behavior when this option is in use.
MerusPay - The Export to CSV action is now working as expected on the MerusPay Payments History view.
MerusPay - Addressed an obscure issue on the Payments History view that was showing inaccurate Case and Applied Amount details.
Microsoft Outlook Add-in - Addressed an issue on Microsoft Outlook 2016 where the ‘attach to Merus’ action of the Outlook add-in was not functioning as expected.
Email Formatting - Emails with plain text formatting are now displaying correctly in MerusCase.
