Any table in MerusCase allows for filtering across any of the columns on your screen to provide the user a tailored list within the system. In other words, use the filter to quickly find a specific line item within the table.
Additionally, MerusCase supports the use of multiple filters at once. For instance, a user can search for all open (by the Case Status column) cases within Browse Cases and then apply a second filter to then search for Assigned to Me (by the Staff column) within those open cases.
To apply multiple filters, enter the first filter then click on the magnifying glass. On click, a drop-down window will appear. Click Add Filter and toggle what to filter by.
Select Always use this column if you wish to always use the same filter type. Many firms find it particularly useful to select this option when filtering for cases, forms, or templates.
Pro-Tip
MerusCase filtering has very powerful Search and Filter Tricks available to you, such as Custom Filter Shortcuts, powerful keywords, Preset Filters and even more!To remove a filter, click on the added filter button (each applied filter appears as a button underneath the Search/Filter bar). For example, to remove the filter for open cases, click on the button Status: Open underneath the Search/Filter bar.
Use filtering in MerusCase to quickly find a specific template you’d like to create.
Pro-Tip
Built-in MerusCase templates will have the prefix of Built In Word at the front of the document name as these are templates that MerusCase provides to all firms and all users. Templates that are unique to your firm will have a prefix of Custom Word at the front of the name. This naming convention is automatic in MerusCase, so it can be a helpful and reliable method to filtering your firm's templates. To see only your firm’s custom templates, click the Show Only My Templates button right below the search bar. To see both built-in and custom templates, click the Show All button.
Note
To permanently hide built-in templates from this area, navigate to Tools & Settings (the little gear icon in the upper right) then My Preferences. Under the heading Microsoft Word Templates, you will see the option for Hide Merus (Built-in) Word Templates. Note that this is a user-level preference, so each user in your firm may set this however they wish.Viewing a Template (Preview)
To view a template, click on the control column next to the desired template and select View Template. You can also simply click on the line item for the template.
On click, the template will be visible on the right-hand panel. This panel will provide a page-by-page preview if available and will provide the options to Download Original, View a PDF version in a new tab, or Forward the document via Messages in either .docx or .pdf format.
Download Original Template
To download a template, click on the control column next to the desired template and select Download Original. Alternatively, you can click the download button above the template preview. On click, the template will be automatically downloaded to your computer/device.
Note
The original version downloaded will display the merge code that tells MerusCase what information to pull into that template upon creation in the system. To download or view a document/template with case information populated (i.e. one you just merged), see Case Activities.Download a Saved Document from Case Activities
You may want to open, edit, or view a document after creating it. To open a document, simply navigate to the Activity Tab in a case. Using the Search/Filter bar, find the document you wish to open. Note: It will most likely be at the top of your activities list if you just created it.
Click on the activity associated with the document you wish to open. If you’re in full screen mode, this will open the preview panel on the right side of the screen, where you will have the options to download, view as a PDF, or forward as an attachment.
Clicking the PDF option will download a PDF version of your document. For all MS Word documents, MerusCase will generate a PDF of the document automatically.
Alternatively, you can download the file as a Word document. This will allow you to open it, make changes, and save the document back into the case using the QuickSave button.
Deleting a Template
To delete, click on the Control Column (displayed as three little dots) next to the desired line item and select Delete.
Generally, anytime a user deletes an item, a popup message will appear asking for confirmation from the user.
