Tips & Tricks for Letterhead Setup
Margins: set the margin the same as your template margin. If it is not set up correctly, the merged document will not have the proper letterhead.
Font: Ensure to set a default font size and type on the letterhead. Else, upon merge, the font type and size will change to that of the template.
To set the default font, right click anywhere on the letterhead, hit Font. Choose the correct font and hit Save as Default
Images: ALWAYS put images in textboxes. Unless images are in textboxes, it will either not show up on the merged document, or it will keep moving and will not stay on the spot you want it to.
Lock the anchor: If you have textboxes and tables in the letterhead, be sure to lock the anchors, else it will move with the text. You can right click on the table or textbox and select the format option. You will see a checkbox to lock anchors.
NEVER put anything in the header and footer section as it will not show. ALL text needs to be in the body of the document.
Preferred method of copy/paste should be done via right clicking and selecting copy/paste, not control c and control v (or command for Mac). Always adjust to “keep source formatting” after.
